Workshop Six
March 10, 2020
Our sixth workshop was mainly dedicated to individual/small group puzzlemap work. Teachers continued to research and create content for their class puzzlemaps based on themes that the teachers had previously selected. They worked on finding iconic images exemplifying the region/state represented by each puzzle piece and on locating data for each of their main informational categories. This information will be included in the clue window for each puzzle piece, which appears when a piece is selected for placement. A clue window provides this overview in addition to more flexible clues about places within the area represented by its puzzle piece.
Teachers usuallly share updates of the creative ways they’ve been using PuzzleMap in their classrooms. This time, Xiang and Sarah shared several of the video logs or vlogs that Xiang has been creating based upon their observations in the participating classrooms. These videos provide a fun glimpse into the way students interact with PuzzleMap and offer insights to the topics, interest and questions that they have during our visits. A new Classroom Observations page will soon appear on this site featuring those vlogs as well as other videos, photos and comments from our classroom experiences.

Looking Ahead
The seventh final workshop will be held on April 14th.
This session will provide the teachers with one last session to finish up this year’s geo-literacy work and to share their new puzzlemaps with one another.
We can’t wait until this great group of teachers are able to share their hard work with their students!
Scheduling Note:
Workshop #7 will be a virtual session held at its original time.
